Small introduction of printer

A peripheral device which produces text or graphics of documents is called printer. The printer produces print for the files or documents stored in electronic form in electronic media.

Usually the print comes on physical media such as paper or transparencies.  The printers are generally used as local peripheral device and are attached by a simple printer cable. Now in new printers USB cable is used for making the use easier.  Normally printers are designed for supporting both local user and network user at the same time but there are some printers which are specially designed for using on the network. These printers are typically designed in network interface.

The new generations of the printers are ready for using directly with the storage media or other electronic media. It means that it allows you to print direct from the camera to memory card of your device and it is not compulsory to connect with the computer.

There are two major kinds of printer’s laser printer and inkjet printers. Different techniques are used for printing in these two. The printers either use laser or inks. Where the printer ink is used for printing the printer is called inkjet printer and where the laser is used the printer is called laser printer. The laser printers are much expensive in comparison of inkjet printer because the laser printers are much faster and ideal for business use.

The inkjet printers can be categorized in home and office printers where the home printers are very slow in printing and the office printers are fast in comparison. You can find 4 inks and 6 inks printers both in different brands of printers but the most common kind is 4 ink printer and people like to use it. If you have to generate multimedia graphic prints with high resolution then you can use 6 ink printers but these are more expensive then 4 ink printers. The inkjet printers use ink cartridges for printing which can be replaced and refilled. Different models of printers use different printer ink cartridges.

The laser printers also have two kinds based on methods of printing which are black and white printing and color printing. The black and white printing is known as monochrome printing. There are some laser printers which have built in duplexer for double sided simultaneous printing capability.

The monochrome printers are ideal for office use because in offices we generally print text and these printers are good for large volume printing. The monochrome printers are faster than color laser printers. The color laser printers are very expensive but ideal for both office and home use. In laser printers toner cartridges are used in place of ink cartridges.

Laser Printers Have Decreased Further Price And Increased Quality

In the case of poor quality toner in a laser printer, the black areas won’t be as dense. However, now that good quality, name brand color laser printers are much more affordable, I think it is time for their reconsideration. Enter the color laser printer, which has a relatively low toner cost and does its best quality printing on inexpensive, plain laser paper. In addition, higher quality rag-content bond papers can also be used effectively with a color laser printer. SMEs need an inexpensive laser printer that achieves quality results quickly. If you’re intent on reproducing photos, you’re better off with a good quality inkjet printer instead of a laser.

The application being used must support Postscript in order for the laser printer to print Postscript documents. A laser printer with duplex printing can print on one side of the paper, turn the paper over, and print on the other side.
